The Easter Triduum reaches its climax with the Great Easter Vigil - March 30th - 8:00 pm

... Light shines in the darkness, proclaiming 'His Resurrection will mark the way'.

Having remembered Jesus' Passion and Death on Good Friday, the Church moves into a period of watching and waiting at the tomb.

Saturday remains empty in anticipation of the Great Vigil of the Resurrection at 8:00pm.

Fire is lit and the Paschal Candle is prepared and processed - "The Light of Christ! Thanks be to God!"; we hear the story of our history and redemption with the singing of the Exsultet and the readings and psalms of the Hebrew Scriptures, the organ sounds, lights are lit and "Glory be to God!" and "Alleluia!" are heard for the first time since Ash Wednesday.

Do come and celebrate with the Cathedral Congregation and Choir - who will sing John Taverner's great Easter motet, Dum transisset Sabbatum, telling of Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bringing spices, that they might anoint Jesus only to find themselves the first witnesses to the empty tomb and the Resurrection.

Come and proclaim with us:

Alleluia! Christ is risen. The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!

Tá Críost éirithe! Go deimhin, tá sé éirithe!

Christos Anesti! Aleithos Anesti!
